Kelli Giddish Returns to Law & Order: SVU for 27th Season

Kelli Giddish will return as a series regular in the upcoming 27th season of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” Giddish came on-board in season 13, as Detective Amanda Rollins. She left her position as a series regular halfway through season 24. For fans, her return is the biggest deal imaginable. She has undoubtedly always been the central figure to the overarching lore of the series.

Since her departure from the main cast, Giddish has made guest appearances in several episodes during seasons 25 and 26. Throughout this time, her character, Amanda Rollins, has had the benefit of a very special friendship with Captain Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay. This dynamic has been at the core of the series since its inception, lending to its emotional storytelling and character arcs.

In other breaking news from within the show, some major cast changes are about to happen. Juliana Aidén Martinez was added to the regular cast as Detective Martinez starting with season 26. She and fellow co-star Octavio Pisano will be leaving the show behind after this current season. Both actors are major assets to the series with each bringing new perspectives that shift the show’s dynamics and introduce new storylines to explore.

“It’s very natural and organic. She’s a great friend of mine and it’s comfortable and it’s empowering,”

In addition to these changes, veteran actor Sam Waterston, known for his role as District Attorney Jack McCoy, will exit the series after appearing in over 400 episodes. His departure signifies the end of an era for “Law & Order: SVU,” where he has been a foundational character throughout its run.

Tony Goldwyn will be joining the series in a recurring cast role. Goldwyn’s addition appears to be an effort to inject new energy and storylines into the long-running show. At the same time, Camryn Manheim, who plays Kate Dixon, is leaving “Law & Order: SVU.”

The seventh season is shaping up to be a critical one for the long-running series. As fans countdown for Giddish’s return alongside some other fan-favorite characters. They can be prepared for invigorating new talent and new character dynamics!
