Brad Arnold, the lead singer of popular rock band 3 Doors Down, wants to share something personal. He is still undergoing treatment for Stage 4 cancer. The 46-year-old musician recently posted a video on social media sharing that he has been diagnosed with clear cell renal carcinoma. In the meantime, the cancer has metastasized to his lungs. This diagnosis will sadly play a major role in the band’s upcoming Summer of ‘99 Tour, resulting in its cancellation.
Arnold, one of the founding members of 3 Doors Down, shared his news with fans following a period of illness. He was pretty sick for two weeks. Only after the fact, he went to get medical attention where he received an alarming diagnosis.

Clear cell renal carcinoma (ccRCC) represents about 80% of all renal cell carcinoma. It can be congenital and because of that is commonly linked to genetic disorders like Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome. Arnold’s diagnosis has certainly shed light on this serious health issue that affects so many people.
“I’ve been sick a couple of weeks ago and then went to the hospital and got checked out and had actually got the diagnosis that I had a clear cell renal carcinoma, that it metastasized into my lungs and it’s Stage 4, and that’s not real good,” – Brad Arnold
That’s right—the Summer of ’99 Tour is happening this July! Prepare to jam with huge acts including Nickelback, Creed, and Vertical Horizon. The tour’s cancellation represents a major turning point for the band. Their fans, who were dearly looking forward to enjoying said performances, are left holding the bag. Arnold expressed his regret regarding the situation.
3 Doors Down originally came together in Escatawpa, Mississippi in 1996. Arnold, Todd Harrell and the late Matt Roberts formed the band and have enjoyed a successful two-decade run in rock-n-roll. The full lineup now again features Greg Upchurch, Chris Henderson, Justin Biltonen, and Chet Roberts.
