Mbappe’s Heroics Propel Real Madrid in LaLiga Amidst Recent Setbacks

Real Madrid’s season has been a rollercoaster. This comes after they rode their luck through a dismal Champions League defense and went down 2-0 to their opposition in the Copa del Rey final — bitter rivals Barcelona. Kylian Mbappe’s brace against Celta Vigo has brought back their chances of pulling level with league leaders Barcelona. The game at the Santiago Bernabeu capped off an incredible week with a stunning 3-2 comeback win for the hosts. This crucial victory keeps their hopes of a LaLiga title alive.

Real Madrid suffered many injuries which made their defensive presence very limited. Nonetheless, they approached the game hell bent on getting precious points as they push for an elusive title. They took the lead early on through Arda Guler’s opener in the 33rd minute of the game. Guler skillfully maneuvered within the box and curled a strike past Celta goalkeeper Vicente Guaita, giving Real Madrid an early advantage.

Celta Vigo opened the match strongly, forcing Carlo Ancelotti’s side on the backfoot and creating a plethora of early opportunities. They settled down and quickly took charge of the contest. Kylian Mbappe proved his finishing ability by scoring two sensational goals in Tuesday’s match. This stunning display of skills extended his league goal count to 24 for the campaign. His performance was doubly notable in that it brought him level with one of the league’s top scorers, Robert Lewandowski.

A win for Real Madrid against Celta de Vigo was the perfect tonic. It maintained a important four-point advantage as they near next week’s Clasico towards Barcelona. Had Real Madrid not held on for the victory, FC Barcelona would have taken full advantage and been crowned 202-21 LaLiga champions by winning that match. The stakes couldn’t have been greater for either team!

As the game wore on, Celta Vigo pushed down the stretch for an equalizer, raising the anxiety level among the Real Madrid faithful. The home side hung on to make sure they took all three points and kept the rest of the field in midfield – including their rivals – far behind.
