SharkNinja has publicly issued the voluntary recall. They are recalling approximately 1,846,400 of their Ninja Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cookers due to possible burn hazards. The models recalled are OP300, OP301, OP301A, OP302, OP302BRN, OP302HCN, OP302HAQ, OP302HW, OP302HB, OP305, OP305CO and OP350CO. These pressure cookers, which had a 6.5-quart capacity, were touted as the “do-it-all” appliances with air frying functions.
Retailers nationwide including Costco, Sam’s Club, Target, and Walmart sold the affected pressure cookers. Fifty-five percent of all sales during this time were for ten years or less. You can order them on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or IndieBound. Visit Amazon, Costco.com, NinjaKitchen.com, SamsClub.com, Target.com, and Walmart.com for additional selections. Those model numbers are located on a label placed on a side of the pressure cooker.
In particular, SharkNinja has been made aware of reports of consumers removing the pressure-cooking lids while the appliances are actively cooking. This has led to nearby serious burn injuries from scalding hot contents. Owing to the seriousness of this hazard, the firm recommends customers immediately cease using the pressure-cooking function. Safety is our first priority and your safety is their top priority! That said, consumers should still feel comfortable using the air frying feature and any other non-pressure cooking features of the recalled pressure-cookers.
SharkNinja has announced a recall of over 900,000 pressure cookers. Even better, they are producing free replacement lids for every OP300 series model impacted. Consumers who are affected are advised to contact SharkNinja directly for more details about how to receive a replacement lid.
