School Bus Crash on A93 Leads to Charges in Aberdeenshire

Authorities have charged a driver after a school bus crash on the A93 in Aberdeenshire that sent students to the hospital. The incident took place at approximately 08:50 on April 30, between the villages of Crathes and Drumoak while children were en route to Crathes Primary School.

Emergency services were quick to respond to the crash site, where a school bus was carrying dozens of young children. Like the first incident, there were no serious injuries reported for the children on board, or the driver. Area locals were the ones who first noticed the bus turned into a parking lot. First responders rushed in with emergency vehicles to contain the area and assist victims.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing. The police have acknowledged that they are looking at multiple factors that led to the collision, none of which was neglect. We continue to urge any witnesses and anyone with possible additional information that could help in the investigation to please come forward.

The crash has left parents and community members alarmed about the safety of school transportation in the area. I know I breathed a great sigh of relief that no kids were critically injured. That doesn’t stop them from worrying about the very real dangers of riding on a school bus.

In response to the horrific crash, local officials are moving quickly. To ensure similar incidents do not occur again, they are re-evaluating safety protocols for transporting students to school. Reforms to strengthen road safety enforcement around schools and busy corridors such as the A93 should be top of the agenda.
