Robert Irwin Takes Center Stage in Dancing with the Stars Season 34

21-year-old Robert Irwin, wildlife conservationist, photographer and son of the late Steve Irwin has been announced as the first celebrity cast member. Looking forward to creating more excitement on season 34 of @DancingABC! Along with a passion for wildlife conservation, Irwin has a strong appreciation for his family heritage. He further channeled his inner Adam by calling it “an honor” and “a privilege” to enter the race.

Irwin, son of the late Steve Irwin, is best known for his work in the world of wildlife education and entertainment. His father, famed for the documentary series “The Crocodile Hunter,” instilled a passion for conservation in Robert from an early age. Like father, like son—Robert has taken up his father’s cause. Since 2014, he has helped co-host the television series, “Wild But True,” which airs on the Discovery Kids Channel. He became a household name through the series “Crikey! It’s the Irwins!” starring on the popular show from 2018-2022. The special largely focused on his efforts rehabilitating his family-run Australia Zoo.

At work, Robert is often beside his mother, Terri Irwin, and his sister, Bindi Irwin, at the Australia Zoo. The then-26-year-old Bindi captured international attention in 2015. She took home the mirrorball trophy during season 21 of “Dancing with the Stars,” dancing with partner Derek Hough. This familial connection adds an interesting dynamic to Robert’s participation in the show, as he follows in Bindi’s footsteps 26 years after her victory.

As a zookeeper and wildlife warrior, Robert Irwin doesn’t just take care of animals. He is just as fully committed to these causes. Such a dedication is spot on with the values of “Dancing with the Stars” where stars often use their platform to advance causes close to their hearts.

Robert’s entry into the popular dance competition is highly anticipated, given his family’s rich history in entertainment and conservation advocacy. We believe that his youth and energy will help transform and refresh the show in exciting new directions. Audiences will be enchanted by his dazzling dance moves and his profound love for wildlife.
