Health Alert Issued for Pork Carnitas Sold at Aldi

Cargill Meat Solutions has recalled nearly 130,000 pounds of ground turkey with a public health alert. The alert is for their Pork Carnitas SEASONED & SEARED PORK WITH JUICES SLOW COOKED WITH CITRUS. The alert focuses on products packaged in 16-ounce sleeved trays. These products with UPCs 306080658004 and 306080658005 have associated “USE BY” dates of June 30, 2025, and July 1, 2025. The company knew at least one immediate danger — metal pieces. As a precautionary measure, they sent out a public health alert.

The impacted Pork Carnitas made it to retail locations in 16 states across the South and Southeast. These states are Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Wisconsin. With marketing claims like “slow cooked with citrus” and seasoned-in flavor, it’s no surprise that.

In announcing the recall, Cargill Meat Solutions stated that ensuring the safety of consumers is their highest priority.

“Out of an abundance of caution, and in coordination with the USDA, we have voluntarily issued a public health alert for our pork carnitas products produced from April 1 – 2, 2025, that may potentially contain metal pieces.” – Cargill Meat Solutions

In its announcement, the company attempted to calm consumer fears by noting that no related illness or injury related to this product has been reported. On top of that, they substantiated that the product they made during the various time frames in question is no longer on shelves for sale.

It is still of utmost importance that consumers review their freezers for any Pork Carnitas that match the criteria listed above. The implicated products have prominent “USE BY” dates clearly labeled on the product.
