Cameron Mathison Reflects on Support from General Hospital Family After Losing Home in L.A. Fires

Cameron Mathison, known from “All My Children” and dozens of Hallmark feature films, is having a pretty rotten week after losing his home. Yet the recent, widely reported, fires that recently consumed much of the forests around Los Angeles have really shaken him. The passionate actor has been public not only about his experiences but more importantly about his heartfelt gratitude. He attributes the outpouring of support from his fellow actors on “General Hospital” for greatly helping him through this confusing, difficult time.

These fires have now forced more than 80,000 residents of the greater Los Angeles area to evacuate their homes. Mathison is one of thousands of Angelenos who bore the grief of this senseless tragedy. Though the devastating loss of everything he owned weighs heavy on his heart, he intends to rebuild his home as well.

“Every little single thing that I’ve ever owned, every piece of evidence of my life and my kids’ lives, was lost in that house,” Mathison stated, highlighting the deep personal loss he has endured. He emphasized the emotional toll, saying, “It’s been, oddly, one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to deal with.”

Adversity hasn’t just been a challenge for Mathison—it’s been a springboard. All the love He’s been so touched by all the kindness and generosity that has been shown to him from his “General Hospital” family and beyond. He mentioned that the support has given him and his family hope during such a hopeless situation. “It’s going to be OK for sure. I got this,” he reassured fans and supporters.

Mathison shared a very special gift he’d received from his other co-star, Cynthia Watros. This simple act provided him with a world of happiness. She added that the outpouring of love from his fellow cast members has helped him directly address the challenges of this tough stretch.

Mathison isn’t just dealing with his own personal tragedy. He’s just as keenly aware of the thousands of others going through the same loss and pain due to the wildfires. He shared his thoughts on the situation, stating that he often thinks about the thousands of individuals who find themselves in the same position.

Mathison, who has been candid about his ongoing recovery after separating from ex-wife Vanessa in July, his priority now is rebuilding his family’s home and restoring stability for his adult children, Lucas and Leila, amidst this ongoing chaos.
