Veteran Actor Bruce Glover Passes Away at 92

Bruce Glover, the highly regarded actor known for playing the hitman Mr. Wint in the James Bond movie “Diamonds Are Forever,” has died at 79. Natural causes were listed as the official cause of death on March 12, 2025. He was 92 years old. Glover was born on May 2, 1932. As someone who experienced the golden age of Hollywood history, he will be remembered forever for his iconic performances and dedication to the arts.

While Glover’s career in Tinseltown was certainly impressive, it wasn’t always the direction he intended to take. Born to Herbert and Eva, Glover’s initial pursuit of an acting career was anything but traditional. He got his start as a gorilla during an art class for students. This atypical launching pad would eventually prove to be the springboard that would make him a household name. At 21, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Korea from 1953 to 1955.

Bruce Glover’s television career was extensive, with appearances in several iconic shows, including “Perry Mason,” “Gunsmoke,” “Mission: Impossible,” and “The Dukes of Hazard.” His memorable portrayal of Mr. Wint in “Diamonds Are Forever” opened all the doors. Putter Smith, who played Mr. Kidd, starred alongside Moore and together they became iconic.

Besides his contributions to the Bond franchise, Glover is well known for his role in cult favorite “Walking Tall.” He went on to star as Grady Coker and reprised the role in its two sequels. He cemented that place in cinema history with his unforgettable performances in “Chinatown,” where he played Duffy. He killed it as hustler James Coburn in Hard Times.

“I was always an actor and didn’t know I was acting,” – Bruce Glover

In his later years, Glover shared his expertise by teaching acting classes in Los Angeles, nurturing a new generation of actors. His influence extended well past his own career. He worked with his son, Crispin Glover, on the 2007 feature “It Is Fine!

“It was very easy to work with him as a director,” – Crispin Glover

“It was a very interesting experience to work with him as an actor, because when you’re acting with somebody you tend toward looking in their eyes more than you do in real life. When we talk in real life, we tend toward looking a bit and looking away…. It was very interesting looking into the eyes of my father, which I don’t do as much.” – Crispin Glover

Glover’s last credited role came in the 2015 movie “Influence.” This would be the last production of his legendary career in film and television, which began in Japan in 1954.
