Teddi Mellencamp, known for her time on Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” recently shared her cancer journey. She would go on to return as a guest in seasons 11, 12, and 13, mesmerizing viewers with her raw honesty.
In 2022, she found out she had skin cancer. The news got even worse in February, when she was given a diagnosis of brain cancer. Her health is deteriorating by the day. She is currently fighting stage IV metastases of melanoma and recently discovered that she has two tumors in her lungs. With every new heart challenge, Mellencamp sees new opportunity to advocate. Though her health has presented challenges, Mellencamp is hopeful about her future in advocacy.
Mellencamp unflinchingly documents her breast cancer experience on Instagram. She goes into even more detail about her experiences on her podcast, “Two Ts in a Pod,” which she co-hosts with friend-and-foe Tamra Judge. On the podcast, she candidly spoke about her prognosis and painted a vivid picture of the harsh realities of living with cancer. She addressed the strongest criticisms and critiques from online commenters directly.
“My dad has detailed plans for my burial,” she revealed in a recent update. “He goes, ‘There’s gonna be the top five, and then we’re gonna have little areas around it, and that’s where everyone’s gonna get buried.’” This frank and intimate conversation sheds light on the family’s inspiring attitude toward accepting mortality as they face this challenge with love and transparency.
And though the severity of her situation weighs heavy on her, Mellencamp still has some battle left in her to raise her voice. “I’m in the bath, let me live a little, let me enjoy,” she stated, emphasizing the importance of cherishing life even amid adversity.
Over Mellencamp’s path so far, her vulnerability has attracted many of her fans. She has received serious backlash online, but she’s undeterred and intent on continuing to share her experiences. By being open and vulnerable about her own struggles, she sets an example and shows that those who are struggling are not alone.
