Alexander Ovechkin has made history, becoming the greatest goal scorer in National Hockey League (NHL) history. On a frigid night, Ovechkin scored in historic fashion in a captivating affair. It underscored his incredible consistency, which he accomplished in his 1,487th career game—tying him with Gretzky for total career games played. This achievement marked the end of Gretzky’s remarkable 31-year run as the greatest goal-scorer in NHL history. Now, Ovechkin is the new torch carrier for future generations.

The mood in the arena was buzzing as fans everywhere sensed they were on the cusp of witnessing history. A subsequent television timeout provided just enough time for the crowd’s excitement to reach a fever pitch. It was a picture-perfect pass from his longtime wingman Tom Wilson.
