Princess Beatrice has shared the tough but fulfilling experience since the early arrival of her daughter, Athena. The royal posted a previously unseen portrait taken during a private family photoshoot with Athena shortly after her birth. Athena, who was born premature in January, is healthy now, Beatrice said.
Beatrice has since become a patron of Borne, a charity that is working to support families impacted by prematurity. When asked about this new role, Hall credits the push for her own experience with “months of pure panic” while pregnant. In an honest and unvarnished personal essay written for a fashion magazine, Beatrice shared her struggles. She candidly described the sadness and anxiety that accompanied the premature birth of her daughter.
A Challenging Start
Beatrice told us that her first months of motherhood were emotionally very draining. Reflecting on Athena’s fragile start, she shared:
“Nothing quite prepares you for the moment when you realise your baby is going to arrive early. There’s so little control.” – Beatrice
Even with the odds stacked against her, Athena is flourishing and as of today, she sits 11th in succession to the throne. Beatrice shared her hope and happiness about watching her daughter get healthier every day.
Supporting a Cause
To further support families dealing with premature births, Beatrice has collaborated with business owner Alice to create a new baby shower collection for her brand, Mrs Alice. Proceeds from the collection will go directly to Borne, further solidifying Beatrice’s passion for advocating for women’s health.
Beatrice highlighted the neglect women’s health has historically faced, emphasizing the need for it to be prioritized and addressed properly. Her new role with Borne is intended to help raise greater awareness of these important topics.
Close Family Ties
Beyond her philanthropic pursuits, Beatrice has made headlines recently after taking part in a British Vogue cover photoshoot with younger sister Eugenie. The two sisters showed just how strong that bond is. The pair has been inseparable virtually since birth. To promote the shoot, Beatrice wore a sophisticated cornflower blue midi dress and Eugenie sported a black pleated dress.
Beatrice’s path as a mother and advocate serves as a testament to her strength and commitment to increasing awareness and education about the dangers of prematurity. Her documented advocacy to bridge the gaps and bring awareness — from raising money for impacted families to sharing her own story — emphasizes her dedication to improving the system.
