Boxing Legend George Foreman Passes Away at 76

George Foreman, the former heavyweight boxing champion and man who popularized the appliance now bearing his name, died at 76. His family delivered the shattering news of his passing in an emotional Instagram tribute. Instead, they painted him as a “devout preacher” and a “protector of his legacy.” Foreman became a national sensation and achieved broad-based admiration for his amazing mastery of the bad. He truly was a force for good in his community and far beyond.

Tributes have continued to emerge, from public figures and artists who recalled him as gracious and kind. Hip hop legend Chuck D took to social media to share his sadness after hearing the news, calling Foreman one of his “HEROES.” Rep. Wesley Hunt of Texas hailed Foreman as “a warrior, a champion – a true American legend.” Beyond the world of sports, he pointed out, Foreman’s impact went much further.

"From the ring to the pulpit, from Olympic gold to entrepreneurial greatness, George Foreman inspired generations with his story of perseverance and grace," said Rep. Wesley Hunt.

Even actor William Shatner and comedian Jeff Dye called Foreman, “my guy.” This comment reveals the depth of personal relationships he developed with everyone throughout his life. President Donald Trump tweeted his approval of Foreman, calling him a GREAT FIGHTER with unbeatable strength in the history of the sport.

"What a GREAT FIGHTER!!! He had, without question, the heaviest and biggest punch in the history of boxing," remarked President Donald Trump.

World Boxing Council president Mauricio Sulaiman proclaimed that Foreman’s memory is now eternal, honoring his permanent mark on the sport. Actor John Cusack called him a “wonderful spirit." Even Mike Tyson noted that Foreman’s impact on the world of boxing and outside of it will be felt forever.

"Condolences to George Foreman's family. His contribution to boxing and beyond will never be forgotten," Mike Tyson stated.

Magic Johnson posted wonderful memories of Foreman on social media, remembering him as a great boxer but as a great friend. Johnson even told a story about how he bought one of the first George Foreman grills as an example of Foreman’s entrepreneurial genius.

"He was a knockout artist in the ring, and it was a pleasure getting to know him not only as a boxer but as a man… I even bought one of the first George Foreman grills!" said Magic Johnson.
