Tina Fey and Amy Poehler recently opened up about their less-than-favorable experience at the Harvard Lampoon, a prominent comedy organization at Harvard University known for its influential comedy culture. The duo recalled being invited to the Lampoon, only to be subjected to what they described as a challenging roast. The event took place over two decades ago, yet it remains vivid in their memories.
The Harvard Lampoon is celebrated for its unique brand of humor and has historically played a role in shaping the comedic landscape. However, not everyone is enamored with its approach. Tina Fey candidly referred to the members of the Lampoon as "a bunch of dorks," a sentiment echoed by Amy Poehler. Their visit to the Lampoon included an encounter with Colin Jost, affectionately known as "Baby Jost," who led the organization before graduating in 2004.
"They invite you to come up and then you go there and then a bunch of, like, snively little worms try to roast you," said Tina Fey.
The experience at Harvard left a lasting impression on both comedians. They described how they were taken into a large room where the roast took place, an event neither appreciated.
"They made you go through a whole thing and then they brought us into a big giant room and they kind of roasted us," Amy Poehler recounted.
Despite the many years that have passed since that day, Fey and Poehler's memories of the event remain sharp. While Tina Fey admitted she does not recall specific individuals involved in the roast, she remembers the overall experience vividly.
"I don't remember any of the actual people that roasted us," Tina Fey remarked.
On the other hand, Amy Poehler remembers at least one face from the event.
"I remember the face of one guy," said Amy Poehler.
