Delta and Uber Unveil SkyMiles Partnership for Travelers

Delta Air Lines has announced a strategic partnership with Uber, allowing members to earn SkyMiles frequent flyer points through the ridesharing app. This collaboration, set to launch in the spring, offers travelers a new way to accumulate miles, enhancing their journey experiences. The partnership was unveiled during Delta's keynote event at the Consumer Electronics Show inside the Sphere Las Vegas.

Riders using UberX for airport transfers will earn one SkyMile per dollar spent. For those opting for premium rides, the reward increases to two miles per dollar. Additionally, Uber Reserve users can expect to earn three miles per dollar. The initiative extends beyond rides; travelers can also earn one mile per dollar on UberEats orders exceeding $40 from both restaurants and grocery stores.

The decision to partner stems from Uber's revelation that nearly 15 percent of its rides occur between airports. With this collaboration, Delta continues its trend of offering added benefits to SkyMiles members, such as providing free Wi-Fi and awarding points for Starbucks purchases.

The announcement was made by Delta CEO Ed Bastian alongside Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. Their presentation featured notable appearances by Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis and NFL star Tom Brady, culminating in a performance by musician Lenny Kravitz, who played his hit song "Fly Away."

"With a record number of travelers taking to the skies, we’re focused on helping to make your airport travel journey as efficient, affordable, and effortless as possible," said Uber’s CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.

Delta is celebrating its centennial anniversary, marking 100 years of service. This partnership with Uber is part of its commitment to future technologies and enhancements aimed at improving traveler experiences.

Travelers eager to take advantage of this new earning opportunity can sign up on a waitlist via Uber's website to receive notifications about the program's official launch date.
